Family Consultant - Wollongong

FULL-TIME, NON-ONGOING POSITION – 6 MONTH CONTRACT

The Federal Magistrates Court of Australia (the Court) is the nation’s largest court dealing with family law and general federal law matters. It aims to provide accessible and timely justice at a lower cost to the community.

The Court’s jurisdiction includes family law and child support. To achieve its outcomes the Courts provide a range of services, integrated within a case management environment and encompassing:

  • Dispute resolution services; and
  • Judicial determination of litigated matters.

The Court is seeking to fill a non-ongoing Family Consultant role in its Wollongong registry.

The Family Consultant is responsible for providing child focused interventions to assist families and the Court to achieve the best outcomes for children at trial and post-trial stages of court proceedings.  The role includes the preparation of family reports for the FMC. Operational management is devolved to registries where managers work closely with Federal Magistrates to deliver court services to families in dispute. A university degree in psychology or social work as well as solid post-grad work experience is absolutely essential for this role. The Family Consultant reports to the Dispute Resolution Coordinator in each region.

Salary: Executive Level 1 $81,371 - $85,831 plus Superannuation
