Federal Magistrates Court of Australia CircuitsIn addition to sitting in its principal locations, the Federal Magistrates Court conducts circuits throughout Australia in accordance with the circuit schedules. Practitioners can file matters for hearings in these circuits. See Australian Capital Territory, Litigants and practitioners' applications should be lodged in the appropriate Family Court or Federal Court Registry along with a request to allocate the matter to a particular circuit. The circuits will be of one week's duration. All matters shall be formally listed for the first day of the circuit. It is the intention of the Federal Magistrates Court to conduct a callover of the list on the first morning of the circuit or at a date prior to the commencement of the circuit if the workload warrants it. Practitioners are advised that the Federal Magistrates Court aims to effectively use the time allocated to circuit hearings. In order to make the most efficient use of time; the hearings will be structured in the form of a rolling list. It is imperative that practitioners with matters listed be in a position to proceed when called upon to do so. Matters will be listed for hearing on the first day of the circuit.
